Ian Ritchie's England criticism fair - Wigglesworth

England's Richard Wigglesworth says recent criticism from chief executive Ian Ritchie is justified.

The Rugby Football Union's Ritchie said a fourth consecutive second-placed finish for England in the Six Nations was "not acceptable".

Reserve scrum-half Wigglesworth, 31, of Saracens said: "Players want to win.

"His quote has been blown up but ask the players where they want to finish and they want to finish first. Anywhere else is not where you want to be."

England needed to beat France by a clear margin of 26 points to deny Ireland the title last weekend, but finished six points short at Twickenham.

Head coach Stuart Lancaster has presided over the four runners-up finishes and Ritchie said: "We should be, as a country, winning more - whether it's Grand Slams or Six Nations championships.

"We did not do enough over the five matches."
