Hooker Kirby Myhill is the latest Scarlet to sign a contract extension for the west Wales region.

The former Wales Under-20 captain graduated from Scarlets' academy to sign a senior deal in 2011.

Scarlets have not specified when Myhill's extended deal is to end.

"I'm very much looking forward to further developing my game with the Scarlets next season," said Myhill, 23, who is recovering from a chest muscle injury.

He has not played since suffering that injury against Ospreys in January.

"It's been a frustrating few months for me personally, but I'm coming to the end of my recovery and am looking forward to making a return to action," Myhill added.

The Llanelli-based team also have Wales international hookers Ken Owens and Emyr Phillips in their squad while Kirby's younger brother, Torin, 19, has also played for them,

Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac welcomed Myhill's new deal.

"He will be an important player for us as we return for the new season in a World Cup year."
