Lancashire are the most succesful ever side in the County Championship

Lancashire coach Mark Nelson says reaching Twickenham remains special, as they head there for a seventh year in a row for their County Championship final against Cornwall.

Sunday's game is a repeat of the last two finals, which Lancashire have won.

Nelson's side have taken home the title in five of the last six years.

"The numbers speak for themselves in the way that the county has really put emphasis on the County Championship," Nelson told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Every time we get to the final, we treat it as something special."

After trailing 23-10 at half-time last last year, Lancashire scored four unanswered tries to win

Nelson, who left his position as head coach of Fylde recently and is the former backs coach at Sale Sharks, has been in charge of Lancashire since 2000.

He has led them to 10 finals, winning seven times.

Lancashire have lifted the Bill Beaumont Cup on a record 23 occasions and will appear in their 11th final in 13 years.

"None of the players get paid for this although they are semi-pro players - they do it for the love of the county," added Nelson.

"We try to engage them to make it something special and we do get the pick of the crop of players making themselves available.

"County rugby in Lancashire is the pinnacle of the game for a lot of these lads and we want to keep it that way."
