Hooker Jack Yeandle has been named as Exeter Chiefs' club captain ahead of the 2015-16 Premiership campaign.

The 25-year-old takes over the role from Dean Mumm, who left Sandy Park to return to his native Australia at the end of last season.

"We had some very good other candidates," Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter told the club website.

"But the way he deals with different situations proves he has a lot of qualities that make him the right man."

Devon-born Yeandle started his career with local team Crediton and made 24 appearances for Exeter last season.

Baxter's side play their final pre-season match against Bath on Saturday in the West Country Challenge Cup.
