Cornish Pirates prop Marlen Walker has impressed coaching staff with the way his game has improved since arriving.

The 27-year-old joined the Pirates in February after previously playing in National Three South West.

"He was playing for Weston-super-Mare last year and the work he has put in had been phenomenal," Pirates boss Ian Davies told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"He's a lot fitter than he was, as you an imagine Weston-super-Mare to the Championship is a bit of a big jump."

Walker is a former New Zealand schoolboys player, who spent time on the books of Super Rugby sides Auckland Blues and Western Force earlier in his career.
