Leicester Tigers fly-half Freddie Burns has been ruled out of his side's Premiership opening fixture against London Irish with a broken jaw.

England international Burns, 25, sustained the injury in a pre-season match against Sale on 10 October.

Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill confirmed the injury is likely to sideline Burns for between six to eight weeks.

Tommy Bell replaces him at fly-half as Tigers travel to Irish on Sunday.
