Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea has rejected the chance to take over as Italy head coach.

O'Shea, 45, confirmed he was approached about the possibility of replacing Jacques Brunel, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

"Italy have been on and talked to me, but that's natural. That happens in every walk of life," said O'Shea.

"It's flattering, but no, I'm not going anywhere. My job is here and I want to make sure we continue it."

The Irishman took over at Quins in 2010 and led them to the Premiership title two years later.

They have also won the LV= Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup during his time at Twickenham Stoop.

"It's really nice to be mentioned like that - a massive honour," he added. "It's very flattering but my job is here, full stop."

Harlequins are currently fourth in the Premiership table with four wins from their opening six matches.
