London Irish scrum-half Scott Steele admits he would happily swap starts for wins in a Premiership season in which he has been heavily involved.

Steele, 22, has started the Exiles' last 10 Premiership games and is eager to ensure their survival is secured.

Bottom-of-the-table Irish must win their two remaining games against Harlequins and Wasps to have any chance of catching 11th-placed Newcastle.

"If we do our job, we can put pressure on Newcastle," Steele told BBC Sport.

The former Leicester player has benefited from an injury to fellow scrum-half Brendan McKibbin during his extended run in the side since February.

"It's been great to play and contribute to the team," Steele added. "Even though Brendan has come back from injury, it's been nice to keep that number nine shirt as well.

"I feel like I've gathered a bit of form that I had towards the end of last season. I'm really pleased with the amount of game time I've had in the last two seasons.

"But, it would be even more enjoyable if we start picking up wins. Sunday (against Harlequins), it's all about getting that victory and helping our cause to stay in the league."
