Australia have named David Pocock at blind-side flanker for the first time in his career for Saturday's Test against Wales in Cardiff.

Pocock, usually a number eight alongside Michael Hooper, takes over from the suspended Dean Mumm with Lopeti Timani completing the back row.

Israel Folau remains at full-back with Tevita Kuridrani coming into the team at 13 for the injured Samu Kerevi.

Australia have won their last 11 meetings with Wales going back to 2008.

Pocock's relative lack of height meant Scott Fardy was a serious contender to replace Mumm because of his greater line-out presence.

But coach Michael Cheika told the Australian Rugby Union website he was confident of the Wallabies' ability at the set-piece.

"I still think that our line-outs are good and we've been working hard on the options," Cheika said.

"Lopeti's worked hard on his jump as well, he's jumped in Melbourne so he'll have role, a jumping role.

"We have to make sure our line-out's working. We can't play the game without the set piece."

In all, the team shows four changes from the one beaten 37-10 by New Zealand in the Bledisloe Cup match on 22 October.

Australia: Israel Folau, Dane Haylett-Petty, Tevita Kuridrania, Reece Hodge, Henry Speight, Bernard Foley, Nick Phipps, Scott Sio, Stephen Moore (c), Sekope Kepu, Rory Arnold, Adam Coleman, David Pocock, Michael Hooper, Lopeti Timani.

Replacements Tolu Latu, James Slipper, Allan Alaalatoa, Rob Simmons, Scott Fardy, Nick Frisby, Quade Cooper, Sefa Naivalu
