Newport Gwent Dragons pulled clear in the second half to record a 36-21 bonus-point victory after the sending-off of Scarlets flanker Jack Condy.

He saw red in the 45th minute for a punch to the head of a Dragons player.

Nick Crosswell, Carl Meyer and Harrison Keddie crossed in the last half-hour while Sam Beard bagged the first and last tries for the Dragons.

Dafydd Hughes and Corey Baldwin touched down for the Scarlets, who led 16-10 at half-time.

Angus O'Brien added nine points with the boot for the home side while Dan Jones' 11 points saw the visitors lead for most of the first half.

The Scarlets' troubles were aggravated by an arm injury to acting captain Gareth Owen, while Wales squad centre Tyler Morgan made his return from hamstring trouble for the Dragons.

Dragons backs coach Shaun Connor told BBC Wales Sport:

"I'm not so happy with the performance but the result will be good for us- we were a bit sloppy in the first half but the red card affected them and we were a bit more accurate as well.

"They came with a young team and we always knew it was going to take time to wear them down, we thought it would come down to the last 20 minutes and we scored a few tries there.

"We go into the Edinburgh game with a lot of confidence because we've won three at home on the bounce."

Scarlets assistant coach Ioan Cunningham told BBC Wales Sport:

"I think (the sending-off) definitely had an impact on the game, but I've got to give great credit to this group of players, I thought we showed great character especially with our defensive sets and this group will grow from the experience.

"I think we'll have to review (the red card) and get all the angles on it before we can comment.

"We go back into Pro12 and a tough campaign but these two weeks have been great for us as a region, we've had some answers on players and developed this group."
