Nicky Robinson: Fly-half returns to Cardiff Blues after ending retirement

Former Wales fly-half Nicky Robinson has returned to the Cardiff Blues on a short-term contract just four months after announcing his retirement.

The 34-year-old made 125 appearances for the region from 2003 until his move to Premiership side Gloucester in 2009.

Robinson announced his retirement in July after a 15-year career during which he won 13 caps for Wales.

The Blues also signed Samoan scrum-half Pele Cowley and both players could feature against Ulster on Saturday.

"It's good to bring a player of Nicky's experience back to Cardiff Arms Park," Blues head coach Danny Wilson said.

After spending two seasons with Gloucester, Robinson had spells with Wasps and Bristol, where he worked with Wilson, before ending his playing career with French Top 14 side Oyonnax.

"His [Robinson's] quality is undeniable, he has a wealth of experience from his time with the Blues, the English Premiership and the international game and plenty of leadership qualities," Wilson continued.

"Both Matt Sherratt and I have worked with Nicky at Bristol, he is a good bloke and a very good professional. He has kept himself in good physical condition and will now begin training.
