Namibia head coach Phil Davies hopes second-row Ruan Ludick's move to Welsh Premiership club Merthyr will help his career.

22-year old Ludick joined the league leaders on a two-year deal.

Davies told BBC Wales Sport: "I hope the five or six months with Merthyr will be good for him".

The Namibia international moved to South Wales after a season playing for their representative side in South Africa's Currie Cup competition.

Ludick, who has won four caps for Namibia, could make his league debut on 27 December as RGC 1404 travel to the Wern.
