Newport Gwent Dragons head coach Kingsley Jones says he would like to sign former Ospreys lock Ian Evans from English Premiership side Bristol.

The British & Irish Lion left Ospreys in 2014 to join then-Championship side Bristol after a move to French giants Toulon collapsed.

Evans, 32, played 129 games during nine seasons at Ospreys and toured Australia with the Lions squad in 2013.

"It's nice to be linked to players like that," Jones told BBC Radio Wales.

"He was a British and Irish Lion. His injury set him back last year. I've watched Bristol a bit this season.

"I am monitoring him and if he would come back to Wales, I like to think it would be with the Dragons."

The lock has played five times for Bristol this season, starting four times for the struggling Premiership side.

"There's a lot of people interested. He's a huge presence. Big men like that are hard to come by," Jones continued.

"I've spoken to see if he'd be interested and we'll try to pursue that further."
