The Welsh Rugby Union is investigating a lower-league game that was abandoned because of fighting.

The Treharris v Fairwater match ended in the 73rd minute.

South Wales Police says officers were called to the match on Saturday, 22 April "following reports of a disturbance", but made no arrests.

A WRU statement read: "We will commence normal WRU disciplinary proceedings that occur following any abandoned match."

The sport's governing body in Wales added: "Once in receipt of the referee report, we will invite both clubs to submit reports ahead of a disciplinary hearing."

South Wales Police stated: "If anyone has any information concerning this matter they should call South Wales Police on 101 and quote reference 1700152511."

Treharris were leading 32-14 in the WRU National League Division Three East Central A match when it ended.
