Pro14: Dragons 29-13 Southern Kings

Wales back Hallam Amos scored twice in the first half as Dragons left Pro14 newcomers Southern Kings, of South Africa, winless after round five.

The Kings have yet to earn even a losing Conference B bonus point and were a clear second best to historically Wales' weakest region.

Amos's two-try haul was matched by hooker Elliott Dee, who scored in each half.

Kings' try came from Andisa Ntsila after Dragons earned their bonus point.

Dragons rose a place to fifth in their conference after welcoming back some key personnel after their 52-25 hammering at Ulster.

South African full-back Carl Meyer returned to the back three, joined by wings Ashton Hewitt and Amos with Tyler Morgan, Gavin Henson and Sarel Pretorius also recalled.

Southern Kings coach Deon Davids gave a starting place to Jacques Nel at centre in place of Luzuko Vulindlu as one of their changes.

The South African side were trounced 57-10 by Scarlets on their first visit to Wales and on this occasion, they came up against a side unafraid to employ an expansive style in the rain that fell throughout.

Fly-half Gavin Henson was hugely influential in Amos' opening try, orchestrating a move that swept from side to side before the wing was sent clear wide out.

Dee's first came from a close-range drive before Amos cut through from close range for his second touchdown.

It was back to basics soon after the break for Dee's second as he peeled away from a driving maul to charge over.

Dragons gave Kings an attacking foothold with some loose play and Kings' pack paved the way for Ntsila's drive to the line.

The visitors failed to make the most of Dragons being down a man after home prop Leon Brown was yellow-carded for a poor tackle.

Rival replacement props Thomas Davies and Etienne Swanepoel joined Brown in the sin-bin when Irish referee Andy Brace lost patience with their disruptive scrummaging.

The lack of front row specialists led to confusion on the touchline and a short delay before uncontested scrums were introduced, diminishing Kings' numerical advantage up front.

It stymied the visitors' hopes of a late flourish and Dragons were under little pressure as the game came to a close.
