Pro14: Glasgow Warriors 43-13 Southern Kings

Glasgow bounced back from recent European disappointments to extend their Pro14 winning run with a bonus-point victory over Southern Kings.

Stuart Hogg opened the scoring before quick tries from Niko Matawalu and Nick Grigg gave Glasgow control.

Zander Fagerson's try secured the bonus point after the break.

George Turner and George Horne crossed for Warriors, and although Jacques Nel responded for Kings, the final word went to Turner with his second try.

It means Glasgow now have a perfect seven wins from seven league matches this season.

After the crushing disappointment of the last fortnight in Europe, Dave Rennie experimented with his team for this contest against the winless Kings. Rookie half-backs in Adam Hastings and Horne, two youngsters in the back row in Matt Smith and Matt Fagerson, seven of the starting 15 aged 23 or under.

There was an unfamiliarity in the selection and it told on the pitch. Glasgow were desperate to play, but time and again they forced it and spilled ball after ball. They were ahead after just a minute when Sam Johnson skipped through the Kings' defence and threw what looked like a forward pass to Hogg.

Glasgow got away with it and Hogg went over. Hastings missed the conversion, but a rout was expected at that point. The Kings, having lost six games and conceded six four-try bonus points, actually hit the front soon after, two penalties from the boot of Masixole Banda doing the job.

This was stuttering, impatient stuff from the Warriors, pretty much all the way through. There were so many young players trying too hard to impress for the performance to be fluid and accurate. It was, though, good enough for a bonus-point win, which was the object of the exercise.

Matawalu, a bonkers combination of the great and the grotesque, added the second out wide, picking up at the bottom of a ruck and flinging himself over. Hastings landed that conversion and put over another after Grigg got Glasgow's third. That had its origins in a Hastings break from near his own 22, the score being completed when the excellent Horne found Grigg.

The bonus point came off a 5m lineout, Jonny Gray tapping down for Zander Fagerson to thunder his way through the guts of the unfortunate scrum-half Rudi van Rooyen. Rudi van Ruined by the time the prop was finished with him. Hastings' conversion hit an upright but a fifth try was not long in coming, Glasgow mauling their way over, Turner getting the touchdown.

Another conversion was missed, Ruaridh Jackson hitting a post this time, but the game was long since done by then. Having started so many youngsters, Rennie sprung a few more. Lewis Wynne, 20, Stafford McDowall, 19 and Adam Nicol, 20, all came on to the field, a veritable nursery.

Glasgow struck again from close-range seven minutes from the end, a series of drives culminating with Horne, of all people, getting the decisive touch. Jackson made the gap 30 points with the conversion. The Kings reduced it before the end, Nel intercepting McDowall.

The last act belonged to Glasgow, though. More forward power, another unstoppable maul and a second score for Turner. With Jackson's extras, Glasgow had a 30-point win. Far from perfect, but plenty good enough to continue their sweet Pro14 momentum,
