Ringrose's try put Leinster back in control after Benetton had reduced the margin to seven points

Garry Ringrose produced a try-scoring return to action as he helped Leinster overcome improving Benetton in the Pro14 encounter in Treviso.

Ringrose, back after undergoing shoulder surgery in the summer, scored Leinster's third try after Benetton had cut the Irish side's lead to 17-10.

First-half tries from debutant James Lowe and Jordi Murphy put Leinster 17-3 up before Juan Ignacio Brex's reply.

Late Luke McGrath and Lowe tries rounded off Leinster's bonus-point win.

Ringrose's return to action will have pleased Ireland coach Joe Schmidt while the Leinster management will have been delighted by the contribution of New Zealand Maori wing Lowe, who produced a lively debut after his summer move from the Chiefs.

After being decidedly unlucky to lose against Ulster in Belfast last weekend, Benetton were expected to test Leo Cullen's Leinster side in Treviso.

But while Tommaso Allan's penalty gave the Italians an early lead, Lowe burst through some poor tackling to put Leinster ahead in the 16th minute.

And after an obstruction by Cherif Traore was punished by a Ross Byrne penalty, flanker Murphy ran a superb line to score Leinster's second try.

After being 17-3 down at the break, the home side produced intense pressure after the resumption and Leinster had an escape as Benetton number eight Robert Barbieri knocked on just short of the line.

The series of forward drives was eventually rewarded by Brex's close-range 57th-minute finish, with Allan's extras leaving only a converted try between the sides.

But within four minutes, Leinster were back in firm control as Ringrose jinked his way over the Benetton line after a looping pass from Luke McGrath.

Provider McGrath turned try-scorer three minutes later to secure Leinster's bonus point and Lowe rounded off an impressive debut with his second try.

The win moves Leinster above Ulster to second spot in Conference B, where they now sit three points behind champions Scarlets.
