Wasps stalwart Joe Simpson is to end over a decade's service with the club to join Premiership rivals Gloucester at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old once-capped England scrum-half, who made his debut in 2008, is Wasps' longest-serving player, having made more than 200 appearances since coming through their academy.

"The squad Gloucester are assembling is capable of challenging," said Simpson.

Gloucester scrum-half Ben Vellacott is to move in the other direction.

Vellacott, 23, who has played 45 times for the Cherry and Whites, was called up to train with the England squad last season.

Simpson is Gloucester's first signing ahead of the 2019-20 season.
