Leicester Tigers will have to wait to secure their Premiership status after being beaten 23-20 by Bristol Bears.
Tigers' Jordan Olowofela and the Bears' Callum Sheedy exchanged tries to leave it 11-11 at half-time.
Despite five penalties from Leicester's George Ford, Daniel Thomas and Harry Thacker both crossed for the visitors after the break to seal their win.
Bristol survive thanks to Newcastle's 31-17 defeat by Northampton while Tigers still need a point.
With Manu Tuilagi missing for the hosts with a hamstring injury, Tigers' interim head coach Geordan Murphy confirmed after the game he will miss the rest of the season.
The Bears' victory means they have completed a Premiership double over Leicester for the first time in their history with victory sealed by the hosts' former player Harry Thacker.
After Ford and Sheedy twice exchanged penalties early on, Olowofela then went over in the left corner thanks to a quick move involving Guy Thompson and Jonny May.
But Sheedy then burst through to score a fine solo effort to leave the scores level at the break.
The hosts were reduced to 14 men in the second half, with Matt Toomua sent to the sin bin, and the extra man allowed Pat Lam's side to take advantage with Thomas scoring for the second successive game following a superb counter-attack led by Piers O'Conor.
Ford then slotted his fifth penalty as Tigers extended their lead to four points before Thacker went over at the back of a maul and replacement Ian Madigan added the extras to leave Leicester waiting another week to confirm their place in the top flight for next season.
Leicester interim head coach Geordan Murphy told BBC Radio Leicester:
"Full credit to Bristol, they scored three tries and we only scored one.
"I do feel hard done by, I think we showed some good spirit in parts but to concede three tries is hugely disappointing.
"I thought we played the first half pretty well into a strong wind however we probably left a couple of opportunities out there and ultimately that is costly."
Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam:
"It means a lot to the club, never before have we won back-to-back against Leicester in a season.
"As I said to the boys right at the beginning, we've got to respect Leicester, because I do.
"It's a massive club and I've been here many times and not had victories so we knew that they would be massively up for it."
