The Welsh Rugby Union tests players weekly for Covid-19 from the Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Scarlets and Dragons regions

A member of the Scarlets development squad has become just the third player in Welsh regional rugby to test positive for Covid-19.

The Welsh Rugby Union conducted a further 366 tests this week - taking the overall number of tests to 3,238 - with the one positive result returned.

The player is following Public Health Wales isolation requirements.

Previously, a Dragons academy player and Wales centre Jamie Roberts have tested positive.

Scarlets say no playing or backroom staff members have been identified as needing to isolate as part of the contact tracing protocols in place.

The individual was not part of the Scarlets' match-day squad for last Saturday's Pro14 defeat against Munster and preparations for the away trip to face Glasgow on 11 October have not been affected.
