Gloucester (6) 21

Tries: Moyle, penalty try Pens: Hastings 3

Wasps (0) 27

Tries: Umaga, Oghre, Atkinson Cons: Gopperth 3 Pens: Gopperth Drop goal: Robson

Wasps scored three second-half tries as they came from behind to beat fellow play-off hopefuls Gloucester.

Adam Hastings' two first-half penalties made it 6-0 to Gloucester at half-time.

Jacob Umaga, Gabriel Oghre and Charlie Atkinson all crossed to turn it round before Gloucester levelled at 21-21 with a try from Kyle Moyle, a penalty try and another Hastings penalty.

But Dan Robson's stunning drop goal and Jimmy Gopperth's penalty, to add to his three conversions, saw Wasps home.

Wasps' win was their second in successive Saturdays following last weekend's similarly narrow home win over Newcastle, having previously suffered three straight defeats.

Although Gloucester did at least pick up a losing bonus point, further damage to the Cherry and Whites' play-off aspirations was inflicted by two of their main rivals for fourth place - Northampton and Exeter - both picking up five points.

Despite having the lion's share of possession and territory, Gloucester lacked penetration and were given a lesson in finishing by their opponents.

Especially by former scrum-half Robson who, on as a 52nd-minute replacement for Atkinson, sent his superbly executed drop arcing between the uprights.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington:

"I'm really disappointed but the best team won. We got what we deserved. We had good pressure moments in the first half but we allowed Wasps to relieve the pressure.

"We hung in there throughout and could have nicked it at the end but, having not played for three weeks, we were a bit rusty.

Gloucester captain Lewis Ludlow:

"We were pretty happy at half-time as our gameplan was going well and we were edging the territorial battle. However we lacked a bit of communication and intelligence and then went on to have a tough third quarter.

"The boys are gutted as we know we weren't good enough and certainly weren't clinical enough in the red zone."

Wasps director of rugby Lee Blackett:

"To come down here and win, you have to match them physically at the breakdown and deal with their kicking game and driving mauls. We did that well - and fired a couple of shots ourselves in respect of the driving maul.

"Dan Robson's drop-goal was probably the crucial moment. It rewarded his practice. He always starts and ends training by taking around 50 pot-shots at goal. He came on and played with considerable maturity and that, with Vaea Fifita's last minute line-out steal, were the crucial incidents

Wasps scrum-half Dan Robson:

"I've been coming down here for seven years and never won so it's great to beat them, especially when they are firing.

"We know that there a lot of teams above us and we haven't been up there this season but we'll now take each game as it comes and see what we can do as we have to play a lot of the sides above us."
