Bristol back-row forward Fitz Harding has signed a new "long-term" contract with the club.

Harding, 24, has also been named club captain for the new Premiership season, taking over the role from Steven Luatua.

He has made 52 appearances for the Bears since signing in 2020 straight from university.

Harding played 19 games during the last campaign in all competitions and scored four tries.

"He is a fierce competitor and his commitment, attitude, and attention to detail have been a great example for others, as it has seen him emerge very quickly as a consistent performer for the team across the back-row," Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam said.

Harding added: "My goals and dreams are to win trophies with Bristol Bears, so to have this opportunity is special.

"It's been a whirlwind few years since I joined the club and I'm hugely excited for the next chapter in my career."
