Number eight Morgan Morris says he hopes to achieve a Wales cap and win a trophy with Ospreys during his career.

Wales first choice eight Taulupe Faletau is currently sidelined with a broken arm the Cardiff back row suffered at the 2023 World Cup.

Morgan, 25, has been the in-form Welsh player in his position at domestic level over the last couple of seasons.

He has yet to be capped and admits he has not had any recent communication from Wales head coach Warren Gatland.

"The end game for me is that I would love to get a Wales cap," Morris told S4C's Clwb Rygbi programme.

"Everybody goes on about that in Welsh rugby and it's massive for me. My ambition will always be to try and get into that Wales team whether it be this year, next year or whenever.

"As well as that I want to play as many games for Ospreys.

"I am 25 and on 80-something games and if I can get to 100 then it would be huge for me.

"If I could go on from there I would love to try and win something with the Ospreys, be celebrating a European or league (United Rugby Championship) win with Ospreys like they used to do in the previous years."

Morris admitted he was frustrated to miss out on the extended World Cup training squad, with Faletau and Aaron Wainwright picked as the number eight options for the tournament in France.

"I was disappointed especially with it being an extended squad, so I thought there would be the option there for me," said Morris.

"I thought I had done enough, I thought I had a pretty good year and maybe good enough to get in there but I didn't fit."

Faletau is not expected to return until at least mid-January, with Wales kicking off their 2024 Six Nations campaign against Scotland in Cardiff on 3 February.

Morgan says he will not dwell on being ignored by Wales and keep trying to prove his credentials.

"If my face didn't fit at the time, I just have to keep doing what I have been doing with the Ospreys, keep playing and then hopefully in the future my face can fit and I can keep putting my hand up for Wales," said Morgan.

"I have to keep playing well for Ospreys and give them no reason not to pick me in the future."
