Angus O'Brien set for Dragons return against Glasgow

Angus O'Brien re-joined Dragons for 2022-23 after four seasons at Scarlets

Angus O'Brien is set to return from a broken arm for Dragons' United Rugby Championship match at Glasgow.

The 29-year-old is back after being injured during defeat to Munster in November.

With Cai Evans released from the Wales Six Nations squad, head coach Dai Flanagan has fly-half options for Saturday's trip to Scotstoun.

"We've had one fit 10 all year and now we have two which is great," Flanagan said.

"Angus is like an energizer bunny running around the place and can't wait for the weekend to get some game time under his belt."

Evans was Wales' fly-half bench cover in the 16-14 defeat to England but has played most of his career at full-back.

"I think he's a top end full-back and is a very good 10, but I firmly believe that the future for Cai Evans - to get the maximum from his career - can be at full-back, but there's no reason he couldn't do it at 10 if needs be."

Wales flanker Dan Lydiate could also make his return from rib and back injuries to relieve back row concerns.

Taine Basham and Aaron Wainwright have stayed with Wales this week while Ollie Griffiths, Harrison Keddie, George Nott and Ryan Woodman remain on the injury list.

"Our back row is a bit battered," added Flanagan.

"Unfortunately, the 13 game block and pre-season has hit us quite hard and we have quite a few long-term absences that we'll miss again this weekend."

Dragons face the daunting task of visiting Glasgow who are third in the URC table and are unbeaten at home in the league all season.

"It's tough and they're a well-coached team and when they lose an international team they bring an international team in to replace them," said Flanagan.

"They've also got a lot of experienced overseas players that they're able to bring in for this period and that comes with budget luxuries that hopefully Welsh rugby will get to one day."
