    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former Tottenham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool have been on the front foot and they're putting Madrid under big pressure.

The flick from Hugo Ekitike was really good, but Florian Wirtz stopped his run. If Wirtz kept running he would have been on the end of it.

  3. Postpublished at 20:04 GMT

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

It's a fast start from Liverpool as Florian Wirtz wins the ball high from Arda Guler before Hugo Ekitike commits a foul on Fede Valverde.

It's piping hot inside Anfield right now.

  4. Postpublished at 20:03 GMT

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

Conor Bradley stretches his legs and goes central to Hugo Ekitike. A lovely little flick goes behind the Real defence but it's got too much on it for Florian Wirtz.

  5. Postpublished at 20:03 GMT

    Tottenham 0-0 Copenhagen

Tottenham win a corner in the early stages of this one and Pedro Porro finds Pape Sarr at the back post, who looks like he just doesn't know what to do with the ball and ends up giving it away for Copenhagen to clear.

  6. 'Slot has a lot of balancing acts'published at 20:02 GMT

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Anfield

Arne Slot has a lot of balancing acts to do at the moment. It will go a long way tonight if they can win this game.

This is one of those night's where the Liverpool fans know they have to get behind the team.

It was much better from Liverpool in Saturday's win over Aston Villa but you get the feeling they have to be close to their best tonight.

Liverpool v Real Madrid (20:00 GMT)

    Robbie Fowler
Former Liverpool striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Florian Wirtz is the big one, brought in for a lot of money and maybe we’re trying to shoehorn him into a position that he’s not comfortable in yet, but he’s obviously a world-class player.

Alexander Isak, he’s came into the football club, missed a pre-season and a lot of football, so his fitness needs to get up, but look they are all world-class players.

It’s up to the manager to find a system that suits those players.

  10. 'Lack of creativity' at Spurspublished at 19:58 GMT

    Tottenham v Copenhagen (20:00 GMT)

    Chris Cowlin
Tottenham fan on BBC Radio 5 Live

Losing at home to Chelsea, that performance was pretty poor. The xG was 0.05 - which was a record low in the Premier League for Tottenham.

A lack of creativity at the moment. Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence blanked the manager.

You can never blank your manager, and I am so happy they went to Thomas Frank and apologised.

Tonight we need a top performance, we need an entertaining performance. We could be without 11 first team players, but the crowd certainly need to be entertained this evening.

Arne Slot has not had to jeer the crowd up whereas Jurgen Klopp had to do that a lot. Slot has realised that the crowd is an asset.

Ange Postecoglou guided Tottenham to their first European trophy since 1984 by winning the Europa League last season and Spurs, under Thomas Frank, have won one and drew two of their games so far in the Champions League.

A 1-0 win over Villarreal was followed by 2-2 and 0-0 draws respectively in Norway against Bodo Glimt and in Monaco.

Going on last season, 11 points was enough to finish 24th and advance into the play-offs, while 16 was what was needed to come in the top eight and bypass the play-off round.

That means Spurs, on five points, need at least two wins to be in contention to still be in the tournament in February and will have targeted this one as a must-win, with a trip to European champions Paris St-Germain in just over three weeks. Then comes Slavia Prague at home, before tough looking games against German sides Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt.

For Copenhagen, who have never played Tottenham in European competition before, losses to Qarabag and Dortmund have them in trouble already. After tonight, Kairat of Kazakhstan and Villarreal of Spain follow, before a tricky two to end - Napoli at home and Barcelona away.

Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Anfield

It was a vast improvement what we saw on Saturday from Liverpool against Aston Villa.

It did feel like there was better organisation, and on a whole there was a lot of Liverpool fans walking away saying, 'that's a big improvement'.

  16. Reds fans 'will let their feelings known' towards Trentpublished at 19:52 GMT

Liverpool v Real Madrid (20:00 GMT)

    Robbie Fowler
Former Liverpool striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I’m looking forward to seeing Trent Alexander-Arnold, but I obviously don’t want him to get a result.

I do appreciate that he was a world-class player, and is still a world-class player and he has been a big miss for Liverpool.

We can all have opinions on what we should do or whether we should support him. I think the majority will understand, appreciate and respect what he has done for Liverpool, but I think they will let their feelings known and they'll give him a hard time.

I think Liverpool could use that to their advantage though. To make the atmosphere that little bit more intense, and allow Liverpool to get into Real Madrid, [start] on the front foot.

Putting football to a side for a moment. Last night, Trent Alexander-Arnold visited Diogo Jota's memorial at Anfield last night alongside Xabi Alonso and Dean Huijsen.

The right-back was team-mates with Jota, who sadly passed away in July, for five years at Liverpool.

  18. Frankfurt hold Napoli to goalless drawpublished at 19:51 GMT

    FT: Napoli 0-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

    It ends goalless in Naples.

For all the possession that Antonio Conte's side had, they were rather poor in the final third and had no answer to the visitor's supremely well organised defensive display.

So, a point apiece it is which leaves the teams on four points each at the halfway stage of the league phase.

After coming 17th in the Premier League last season, being sixth in the table and unbeaten in the Champions League would seemingly be good progress.

But, as Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou found out and as Thomas Frank is discovering, Spurs fans not only want their team to win, but to do so in style.

Frank's reign got off to a bright start after he replaced Postecoglou in the summer. Spurs gave European champions Paris St-Germain a huge fright and led 2-0 in the Uefa Super Cup with five minutes to go before losing on penalties and followed that with stylish wins over Burnley and then away at Manchester City.

But since then, the progress has somewhat stalled. They have only picked up one point in their past three home Premier League games and a dismal showing in the 1-0 home loss to Chelsea on Saturday saw the team booed off, with booing also at various points in the second half.

Can Frank lead his side to cheers tonight, with Copenhagen the visitors to north London?

  20. 'For Trent it is going to be nice'published at 19:49 GMT

Liverpool v Real Madrid (20:00 GMT)

Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso said he hasn't spoken to Trent Alexander-Arnold about what kind of reception he will get "precisely", they spoke "about the team, the club".

Alonso, who won the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool, said: "He has to have his own feelings and enjoy it his own way, so I am not going to say how he needs to feel.

"For sure his history is different from mine. He was born and bred in Liverpool. I remember him from a young age in the academy and then coming to the first team and winning the Champions League.

"So he needs to enjoy that moment because it is nice to be back and for him it is going to be nice."
