Harlequins wing Cadan Murley scored a hat-trick in England A's 15-try 91-5 demolition of Portugal at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

Jamie Blamire, Tom Pearson, Alfie Barbeary, Rus Tuima, Will Muir, Josh Hodge, Max Ojomoh, Sam Riley, Jamie Shillcock, Oscar Beard and Greg Fisilau also crossed for England's second side.

The hosts also scored a penalty try in front of the watching Steve Borthwick.

Borthwick's England were beaten in the Six Nations by Scotland on Saturday.

Northampton flanker Tom Pearson starred with his all-round mobility and work at the breakdown, while number eight Alfie Barbeary also impressed with ball in hand.

England were handed a license to play by head coach George Skivington and were steered by Harry Randall's speed of movement and thought at scrum-half.

Skivington said: "There was a void in the opposition and quality of players, but at half time we sat down and were realistic in what we wanted, and challenged ourselves to show character.

"To score that many points is a challenge no matter who you play, but I give credit to Portugal, they stayed in it and fought very hard.

"Considering all Premiership teams defend and attack differently I thought the boys done a great job in getting aligned and if there were any problems they solved them quickly."
