Wales Under-20s captain Harri Ackerman has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his leg against France.

The 19-year-old centre has undergone surgery for a fractured tibia and fibula sustained in the 45-12 Six Nations defeat in Cardiff on Thursday.

Ackerman was handed the captaincy after Dragons teammate Ryan Woodman was ruled out with a broken thumb.

Dragons boss Dai Flanagan said: "It's a blow to lose him in this manner."

He added: "Harri has led Wales Under-20s superbly during this Six Nations so it's disappointing that he's been deprived of finishing the international season and the rest of our domestic campaign.

"Surgery has been successful and he has our full support as he commences his return to fitness."
