Teenage star Sorensen-McGee finishes top try-scorer

New Zealand star Braxton Sorensen-McGee was the top try-scorer of the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup with 11 tries.

The 18-year-old wing scored hat-tricks in pool-stage victories over Ireland and Japan and finished off by scoring twice as the Black Ferns beat France 42-26 in the third-place play-off at Twickenham.

Only Black Ferns legend Portia Woodman with 13 tries in the 2017 tournament has scored more tries in a single World Cup.

Sorensen-McGee was named Women's 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year for her superb performances in her first World Cup.

United States flanker Freda Tafuna scored twice in the drawn match against Australia and followed that up with four tries in the 60-0 win over Samoa. Tafuna will be unable to add to her tally after Australia pipped the USA to the runners-up spot in Pool A.
