Ospreys' derby with Scarlets moved from Boxing Day
- Published
Ospreys will move their traditional Boxing Day match against Scarlets to the Saturday before Christmas because of a fixture clash with Swansea City.
Both clubs play at the Swansea.com Stadium, where football side Swansea are the landlords.
The Swans have a Championship game against Queens Park Rangers on 26 December at 15:00 GMT.
Ospreys will now host Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship (URC) on 21 December, five days before the original date for the game.
Ospreys moved last season's New Year's Day fixture against Cardiff to Bridgend's Brewery Field, where they announced an 8,000 capacity crowd.
On this occasion Ospreys have opted to change the date of their festive fixture rather than the venue.
The Scarlets' visit is Ospreys' biggest home game of the season. The Swansea.com Stadium has a capacity of 21,000.
Bridgend to host Ospreys again
The Scarlets game is one of three fixture clashes with Swansea - so far - in 2024-25, with two other Ospreys matches being switched to Bridgend.
Toby Booth's side will play their opening home match against Stormers at the Brewery Field on Saturday, 28 September (19:35 BST) before another game there, against Edinburgh, on Saturday, 26 October (15:00 BST).
Ospreys' first home match in Swansea this season is on Saturday, 12 October against Bulls (19:35 BST), one of only three competitive scheduled games at the stadium before the end of 2024.
Ospreys will also have one of their 'home' matches, against Cardiff, at Judgement Day at the Principality Stadium on 19 April, 2025.
The only home game for which the venue and time has not yet been announced so far is the European Challenge Cup pool fixture against Newcastle in January, which will be confirmed after the FA Cup third-round draw.
Ospreys are spending their last season at the Swansea.com Stadium before moving across the city to the smaller St Helen's in time for the 2025-26 campaign.
