Northampton Saints snap up trio of young prospects

Luctonians' Archie Benson is one of three signings confirmed by Northampton for next season

Northampton Saints have signed a trio of youngsters – flanker Archie Benson, second row Fyn Brown and tighthead prop Luke Green – ahead of next season.

Benson, 23, joins from Luctonians, where he was ever-present and helped the Leominster club to finish runners-up in National League Two West.

Brown, 21, who started out at Wasps, made 19 appearances for Doncaster Knights in the Championship last season.

Former England youth cap Green, 22, is currently in his second year of Major League Rugby with San Diego Legion.

“Some of our best signings over the last few years have been guys who have not necessarily followed the ‘conventional’ route into the Premiership,” said Saints’ director of rugby Phil Dowson.

“We hope these guys can tread the same path and we’re really looking forward to seeing what they can do in a black, green and gold jersey next season.”
