I think the Dragons have had a bit of a rocket from Filo Tiatia.

The only consolation for the Dragons is that first half was an improvement – of sorts – from their last visit here when they conceded a league record equalling seven tries in a first-half capitulation on Boxing Day 2023.

    Clutching at straws?

With Dragons losing their hooker to the sin bin just before half-time, James Benjamin has come on with Aaron Wainwright making way.

It's ok to have possession, it's ok to have penalties and build the score but you must score tries. Dragons had so much possession but you must turn that pressure into points.

We only saw Cardiff putting pressure inside their 22 twice and they executed both times.

Dragons had a lot of possession to begin with, they were causing a lot of errors from Cardiff. Cardiff were missing a few tackles in the opening 20 minutes.

They sort of seemed to hit their straps in the final 20 minutes of that half, Cardiff. They were going to their strength, going to the driving maul. The Dragons then started to make a few errors. Harri Millard has looked really sharp.

As I said, Cardiff are starting to hit their straps.

Just looking at the half-time stats and you do wonder how Dragons have gone in behind.

Dragons had 62% territory and 66% possession.

Cardiff made 90 tackles compared to Dragons' 25.

Cardiff conceded nine penalties compared to Dragons' seven.

Both coaches will be scratching their heads at just how Cardiff are eight points ahead at the break.

Dragons dominated all but 10 minutes of that half and had Cardiff down to 14 men as the penalties racked up.

But captain Angus O'Brien missed two pretty straight-forward penalties early on before Cardiff showed them how to finish with those late tries.

That will be very dispiriting for Dragons, and interim head coach Filo Tiatia has first big job of lifting his team.

And that's it for the first half.

Dragons dominated possession and territory, but it's Cardiff who go down the tunnel with the advantage.

Every time Harri Millard has received the ball, he's looked really bright. Cardiff deserved that.

It's a great finish from Harri Millard.

He cuts back inside and darts through a hole in the Dragons defence.

He can do no wrong right now.

You can't have any arguments about that, he knows exactly what he's doing.

  13. Sin-binpublished at 40 mins

    Dragons were warned.

It's the hooker Brodie Coghlan who is sent to the sin bin for offside.

Cardiff have a scrum five metres out.

I think when the Dragons have had two penalties conceded for collapsing the maul, Cardiff are going to go for the corner.

This time it's Dragons who are given a warning for their discipline.

Callum Sheedy goes for the corner again.

Cardiff win a scrum penalty and Callum Sheedy opts to kick for touch.

Can they score on the stroke of half-time?

An excellent run there by Harri Millard. I thought Josh Adams did very well to keep the ball.

I think Callum Sheedy could have kept the ball but he went for the kick, but credit to Josh Adams.

Incredible stuff from the Cardiff wings.

Harri Millard makes a barnstorming break, while Josh Adams showed Lionel Messi-standard footballing skills.

Unfortunately for Cardiff, it comes to nothing.

Ha. One of the Arms Park ball boys just booted the ball in-field and it smashed into the back of Dragons wing Jared Rosser's legs.

Not sure what the ball boy was trying to do then, other than take out one of the opposition!
