Grrrr, just after scoring points Liam Williams fails to gather an awkward kick-off and Australia have a scrum.

Warren Gatland will be irked by that.

Wales are not getting a lot of opportunities in Australia's 22 but when they are they've got to start taking them.

Big carries by Wainwright and Lake in midfield and Wales are starting to make in-roads.

Aaron Wainwright picks up from the back of a much steadier scrum and tries to send Hathaway in the right corner but he's shepherded out.

That move lacked zip... looked a bit tentative.

Chance missed but the scrum looks better with Tupou off.

Good play from Wales, transition from the kick chase.

A really good pass from Dyer to set Liam Williams away. Good work from Hathaway to keep that ball in play.

The other good news for Wales is that Wallaby tight-head Taniela Tupou failed to make it out for the second half.

Allan Alaalatoa is on and so is back-row Angus Blyth for his Test debut.

    Joe Schmidt making early calls.

Wow what a start by Wales.

Ben Thomas spreads the ball to Liam Williams and Hathaway's awkward bouncing kick forces Tom Wright to touch down behind the try line and Wales have a scrum five.

    Big chance.

Interesting response to my earlier question... Wales fans finally feeling a bit of optimism after a long, difficult season.

Just a word on today's referee Pierre Brousset.

This is his first tier one Test match and I know it's not always the most popular thing to say, but he's having a decent game.

No one could argue with two yellow cards so far.

What a day of Test rugby we have today.

This is the second of four tasty north-south match-ups.

Earlier New Zealand edged past England 16-15 in a thrilling opening Test in Dunedin to kickstart Scott Robertson's era as head coach with a win.

Damian McKenzie kicked two second-half penalties to overturn England's advantage after Immanuel Feyi-Waboso's try opened up a five-point lead for the visitors.

The sides were level at the interval as Sevu Reece and Ardie Savea scored either side of a Maro Itoje try converted by Marcus Smith, who missed three of his five kicks.

England started brightly after the break and Feyi-Waboso's finish in the corner gave Steve Borthwick's side belief of ending their 21-year wait for a win in New Zealand.

McKenzie, however, recovered from two missed conversion attempts in the first half to bang over six points and hand the All Blacks victory in their first game since last year's World Cup final defeat by South Africa.

Wales are getting some sort of territory in Australia's half then letting Australia off of the hook.

To be fair to Australia they are mixing the game up well, using their big ball carriers, moving it to the width when they have to and their scrum is going well.

Wales will be happy to be within three points after an unconvincing first half.

These two sides looks like what they are - teams with plenty of new faces who have not played together very much.

Whoever gels quickly in the second half will end up winning this first Test.

One positive for Wales is their line defensively line speed.

Whether it's Tommy Reffell, Dewi Lake, Mason Grady and Owen Watkins in midfield, they're flying up.

Aaron Wainwright did well then to pick the ball out of the back of the scrum as quickly as possible.

Another double tackle, this time Tommy Reffell and Dafydd Jenkins smash into Jeremy Williams just as Australia are threatening towards the line.

However the reward is a scrum and I don't think they want it!
