  1. Goodnight from Lisbonpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 12 July

    FT: Portugal 7-106 Ireland

What a way to end the season for Ireland. A record-breaking night at the Estadio Nacional do Jamor.

They hit the century for the first time ever against a poor Portugal outfit.

Never mind the players, I'm off for a lie down after that one! Goodnight everyone and take care!

  2. 'Our mentality was great'published at 21:07 British Summer Time 12 July

    FT: Portugal 7-106 Ireland

Ireland captain Craig Casey on Virgin Sports:

Our major takeaway from today is our mentality. We were very professional and played our game to get the result.

It's a shame the stadium wasn't full but seeing the amount of Irish fans here was special to get the result for them.

  3. 'Feel sorry for Portugal but delighted with our perfoemance'published at 21:05 British Summer Time 12 July

    FT: Portugal 7-106 Ireland

Ireland interim Head Coach Paul O'Connell on Virgin Sports:

I feel sorry for Portugal but we were very clinical and took our chances. It is a unique summer tour given the Lions tour is on at the same time but I am very happy with how our squad applied themselves.

It is great to get some guys capped and scoring tries and training in an international environment.

    FT: Portugal 7-106 Ireland

Records tumble everywhere in Lisbon as Ireland smash their biggest winning margin, most points in a game and most tries.

What Ireland can take from the game is questionable but some great moments for debutants and fringe players who will be hoping Andy Farrell was watching or at least catches the highlights when he wakes up in Australia!

  5. try

Penalty Try Portugal 7-106 Irelandpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 12 July

    Penalty try

Incredibly, with the final play of the game, Ireland maul and get over the line and Adam Leal awards a penalty try to take them over the century!

Penalty is just about the only man not to score for Ireland today. A great day for his family!

  6. try

Converted Try Portugal 7-99 Irelandpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 12 July

    Ben Murphy (con Crowley)

Great handling from Ireland eventually puts another Connacht man over in scrum half Ben Murphy.

Crowley converts and Ireland will have one more chance to hit triple figures!

  7. try

Try Portugal 7-92 Irelandpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 12 July

    Alex Kendellen (con Crowley)

The quest for the century is on! Seven minutes left and it is the number 7 Alex Kendellen who makes sure all three debutants get at least one try. He plunges down at the back of a maul.

Jack Crowley adds the extras for his eleventh conversion out of 14 - not too shabby!

  8. Replacementspublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 12 July

    Portugal 7-85 Ireland

Ireland have completely emptied their bench now with Tom Stewart, Tom O'Toole and Michael Milne in the front row. Cormac Izuchukwu is on in the second row for Darragh Murray.

Max Deegan is on for Ryan Baird, Ben Murphy replaces Craig Casey, Ciaran Frawley is on for Stuart McCloskey and Calvin Nash is on for Tommy O'Brien.

    Phew!

  9. try

Try Portugal 7-85 Irelandpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 12 July

    Cian Prendergast (con Crowley)

A third Connacht man gets a brace! The No. 8 swaps passes with Craig Casey on the break with the last pass basketball style. Jack Crowley adds the extras as Ireland match their most tries in a game with 13.

They set that in a 83-3 win over the USA in 2000 which is actually the biggest win (so far), not the Romania one that I previously mentioned.

  10. try

Try Portugal 7-78 Irelandpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 12 July

    Ciaran Frawley (con Crowley)

Another sub is over as Leinster's Ciaran Frawley sells a massive dummy and canters over. Jack Crowley knocks that one over and Ireland will surely eclipse their record test victory which they only set at the 2023 World Cup. That day was a 82-8 win over Romania.

    An hour gone in Lisbon.

  11. try

Try Portugal 7-71 Irelandpublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 12 July

    Calvin Nash

I haven't even had time to introduce the Irish subs but one of them goes over in the corner!

The Munster wing takes a long a miss pass from club mate Craig Casey and beats two red shirts to the corner. Jack Crowley pushes teh conversion. Perhaps his kicking leg is getting tired!

  12. try

Converted Try Portugal 7-66 Irelandpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 12 July

    Nicolas Martins (con Aubry)

No clean sheet for Ireland as centre Vincent Pinto makes a brilliant line break and offloads to openside Martins who goes over under the posts for a very well-received try.

Hugo Aubry knocks the simple conversion over for good measure.

  13. try

Try Portugal 0-66 Irelandpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 12 July

    Cian Prendergast

A great day for the Western province as another Connacht man gets his name on the score sheet. Prendergast barrels his way over off a short lineout.

Jack Crowley completely miscues his conversion attempt from wide left.

  14. Postpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 12 July

    Portugal 0-61 Ireland

No scores for the last seven minutes or so as it is an Irish lineout just inside their own half.

Will Paul O'Connell look to his bench soon with just under ten minutes played after the restart?

  15. try

Converted Try Portugal 0-61 Irelandpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 12 July

    Craig Casey (con Crowley)

The captain gets in on the act with 90 seconds on the clock after the restart. Slower than the first half in fairness but Shayne Bolton makes the line break and the scrum half finishes it off under the sticks for an easy conversion.

  16. Kick-offpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 12 July

We are back underway at the Estadio Nacional do Jamon. Can Paul O'Connell's men keep up this incredible scoring pace?

  17. Keenan relieved to overcome early Lions 'obstacles'published at 20:02 British Summer Time 12 July

    HT: Portugal 0-54 Ireland

Full-back Hugo Keenan said he "felt a bit better" during the British and Irish Lions' 48-0 win over the AUNZ Invitational XV after a "frustrating" start to his tour.

The Ireland international, 29, missed Leinster's semi-final and final victories in the United Rugby Championship in June with a calf injury that also ruled him out of the Lions' opening fixtures against Argentina and Western Force.

He was then named to make his debut for the side against the Reds only to be ruled out through illness, but now has two games under his belt before the start of the Test series against Australia on 19 July.

"It was sort of an injury into a bit of a illness that kept on lingering for a while so a little bit frustrating, but that's part of touring life. There's always going to be challenges, always going to be little obstacles in the way," he said.

"I'm glad that's sort of behind me and I felt a bit better out there [against AUNZ].

"Now it's about keeping yourself fit and healthy over the next three weeks because this is where it matters. This is what's important."

Keenan, who represented Ireland in sevens at the Paris Olympics last year, was not at his best in his first game against the Waratahs last weekend, but much improved in Adelaide as part of a stronger overall team performance.

"It's always a bit tough coming in when you're injured, but there's a responsibility that when you're fit, you're ready to go," he added.

"I suppose I was a little bit off that Waratahs game, so it's nice to sort of get back feeling a bit better, mind and body."

Head coach Andy Farrell will name his first Test team on Thursday and, with Scotland's Blair Kinghorn a fitness doubt to face the Wallabies next weekend, Keenan is favourite to wear the 15 jersey in Brisbane.

"I think there's going to be a bit of a headache for Faz [Farrell], there's obviously a lot of competition, a lot of lads putting their hands up," he added.

"We saw two good performances this week with the whole squad being involved, so it's a great place to be and, yeah, we'll see how we go."

  18. Half-timepublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 12 July

    Portugal 0-54 Ireland

Mercifully for Os Lobos, Adam Leal blows for half time. What an incredible first half for the men in green but they have been helped by some rather meek home defence.

They have been clinical and wracked up the tries but this is about as one-sided a test match as you are likely to see.

  19. try

Converted try - Portugal 0-54 Irelandpublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 12 July

    Hugh Gavin (con Crowley)

What a day for the Connacht debutants as Hugh Gavin joins club-mate Shayne Bolton on two before the break.

Ireland's eighth try comes after a good break off a maul by hooker Gus McCarthy. Craig Casey throws a miss pass off the base that puts Gavin through a gap and over.

  20. try

Try - Portugal 0-47 Irelandpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 12 July

    Shayne Bolton

Oh dear oh dear... Craig Casey aims for a 50-22 kick but the ball hangs up and Shayne Bolton outpaces two Portuguese defenders to the ball before it goes dead.

That is an elementary mistake from Portugal but credit to Bolton for not giving up and getting two on his debut. I bet he never thought international rugby would be this easy!

Jack Crowley misses for the first time off the tee but I can't see it coming back to bite him.
