Elliott Dee speaking to Scrum V: "The first-half was probably a bit longer than we expected, it was unfortunate that Ben went down.

"A couple of the boys have had contact with Ben, I haven't been in to see him myself but he's up and around, so all good there.

"I think we look really accurate when we have the ball, I know it's been really stop start, but I think the boys will be pleased going into half-time."

The big question is 'who's going to come out the blocks the quickest' for the second time.

I don't think Eddie Jones will be too happy with Japan's first-half.

I was not convinced half-time would feel any different being 20 minutes instead of 15, but it seems to have lasted an eternity!

Let's get this game going again!

Wales look in control, Japan are trying to play with speed and tempo, but their execution isn't there.

I don't want to speak to soon, but Wales look pretty comfortable.

Wales have once again received a warm welcome in Kitakyushu, their training base for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The message 'We became family in 2019. Welcome back Welsh rugby' is on billboards throughout the city.

The local schoolchildren are also showing their love, treating Wales players to their rendition of 'Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau'.

In 40 minutes of rugby there's only been around 80 tackles completed by both teams, normally you'd expect those stats to be a lot higher.

It probably shows how bitty the game has been and how error strewn both teams have been at times.

It is hard to sum that first half up.

Wales started very brightly, and deservedly took the lead through Ben Thomas.

Japan's only attack of real note resulted in a try for Takuro Matsunaga, which drew the hosts level.

A penalty try and Tom Rogers' score followed in the space of two minutes, but since then... well the less said the better.

Errors aplenty from both teams, but ultimately Wales are halfway to ending their 17-game losing run in Test matches.

    They certainly do not!

Japan kick the ball out at the first opportunity, and this hour-long first half is finally at an end!

The clock is red, the hooter sounds.

I don't imagine either team will have any aspirations of continuing to play on in this heat.

    Japan 7-19 Wales

It is sloppy from Japan in attack once more, and Josh Macleod wins the penalty for Wales at the breakdown.

Asides from Takuro Matsunaga's try, the hosts have not offered much with ball in hand in this opening half.

Blair Murray takes a heavy fall after challenging for yet another high ball.

The referee says it was a fair content, and Alex Mann is penalised at the next breakdown for no clear release.

It looked like Wales ran out of ideas there, we'd be better off trying to get into Japan's 15-metre line.

Wales were going sideways and backwards with every phase.

Ultimately Sam Costelow attempts an ambitious drop goal, but it never looked like a clean strike.

Another stoppage in play follows for Nicky Smith to have some treatment.

The high ball has worked well for Wales in this first half, with Japan struggling.

This time Josh Adams jumps highest to win the ball, on the edge of the Japanese 22.

Is there to be a fourth Wales try to end the first half?
