    FT: Ulster 42-21 Dragons

A bonus point in the bag for Richie Murphy's men on opening night. That is nothing to be sniffed at and they played some lovely, ambitious rugby.

It wasn't perfect and there will be some work-ons in training next week but they will enjoy that result this weekend.

You can read Jonathan Bradley's match report here but from us tonight it's goodbye!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we will see you soon! Thanks for spending your Friday night with us!

    FT: Ulster 42-21 Dragons

Ulster Head Coach Richie Murphy speaking to Premier Sports:

"It is a great start but we will have to tighten things up for Edinburgh next week.

We have been trying through pre-season to get our outside backs involved and we did that tonight.

Zac Ward was brilliant tonight. He still has things to learn but he is a real weapon."

    FT: Ulster 42-21 Dragons

Ulster Head Coach Richie Murphy speaking to Premier Sports:

We have been building up to this for a few weeks and the lads showed some good composure. It wasn't perfect but we are happy overall"

Tom O'Toole speaking to Premier Sports:

"It was great to be back playing at home under the lights and we really enjoyed ourselves out there. Still some bits to work on ahead of going to Edinburgh next week.

We have an idea of what they will bring having payed them in pre-season and we are still hurting from the defat at the end of last season so we will look to put that right."

    FT: Ulster 42-21 Dragons

Stuart McCloskey speaking to Premier Sports:

"We're happy with the bonus point win but there is definitely still lots to work on.

I was delighted to play alongside James Hume again. He is one of the best in the world in his position."

    FT: Ulster 42-21 Dragons

Man of the Match Zac Ward speaking to Premier Sports:

We responded well to their early try and kept our cool and played our game."

  7. Full-timepublished at 21:52 BST 26 September

    Ulster 42-21 Dragons

Certainly things to work on for Richie Murphy but that is to be expected on opening night. Putting up six converted tries and some of the ambitious, if not always accurate, rugby was lovely to watch.

The Dragons' lightning start seems a long time ago but they contributed to an entertaining night at the Affidea Stadium.

All in all, a successful return to competitive action for Ulster.

  8. try

Converted Try Ulster 42-21 Dragonspublished at 21:50 BST 26 September

    Tom Stewart (con Flannery)

They do get that sixth try as hooker Tom Stewart peels off the back of a maul and his eyes light up with a free trot to the line.

Jake Flannery converts to keep up the perfect kicking off the tee to double up the Dragons.

Matthew Dalton has a bit of a scrap with Tinus De Beer all the while having his shirt over his head!

    Boxing blind there!

Zac Ward has been awarded the Man of the Match award. He has been influential in Ulster's attack all evening and is looking sharp already.

Five minutes left at Affidea Stadium. Ulster look as though they are going to see this one out.

  13. Postpublished at 21:38 BST 26 September

    Ulster 35-21 Dragons

Ulster waste good field position with an overthrown lineout ten metres from the Dragons line.

Both sides have left some points out there despite sharing eight tries so far but that can perhaps be blamed on opening night rustiness.

    Ulster 35-21 Dragons

A brilliant kick out of hand from Tinus De Beer is played by Jack Murphy when he didn't have to and it gives the visitors a lineout deep in the Ulster red zone.

They go quick and scrum half Rhrodri Williams goes over but the offload off the deck from Huw Anderson is ever-so-slightly forward and Ulster win a scrum penalty to clear their lines.

A warning shot with a quarter of an hour to go that shows this game is not in the bag yet for Richie Murphy's men.

    Ulster 35-21 Dragons

Nathan Doak gets a bit of white line fever as he the scrum half goes for the line when he had some of his big men steaming around the corner.

He is held up and the Dragons can clear their lines with a goal line dropout.

  16. Replacementpublished at 21:21 BST 26 September

    Ulster 35-21 Dragons

A roar from the home crowd as Jarno Augustus comes off the bench for his debut, replacing David McCann.

    Ulster 35-21 Dragons

Strong Ulster ruck defence sees them win two turnovers in quick succession at the breakdown. That will certainly please new Defence Coach Willie Falloon who was a proponent of that himself in his pomp!

  18. try

Converted Try Ulster 35-21 Dragonspublished at 21:11 BST 26 September

    Shane Lewis-Hughes (con De Beer)

The Dragons stay patient and they do get their try as blindside flanker Shane Lewis-Hughes goes over. Tinus De Beer adds the extras as the two kickers are eight out of eight from the tee tonight.

That, at least, stems Ulster's flow for now anyway.

Wyn Jones thought he had barged over but the TMO showed he was short of the line so scrum down Dragons on the five metre line.
