It's not going to count, but Ireland will have the ball back for the penalty.

Simon Easterby shakes his head in the coaching booth.

Ireland are going to tap and go....

Oh, hang on. We're going to the TMO for a look at this one to see if there was a double movement from the Irish prop.

If Italy's try was brilliant, this one was brute force!

Finlay Bealham squeezes under the pile of Italian bodies to touch down!

The Irish maul is metres from the line!

It's brought down and they have the penalty advantage.

  5. Postpublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

Right, a proper chance for Ireland now as they were awarded the penalty and Jack Crowley sticks the ball into the corner.

What can they do from here?

Dino Lamb can't continue and he's going to be replaced Niccolo Cannone.

    Speedy recovery, Dino!

A header in rugby, not something you see every day.

It was accidental as Tommaso Allan went to gather a kick in the air, and play continues.

There's good refereeing from Pearce as he stops the game as play strays a little bit too close to Harlequins Dino Lamb, who is receiving some treatment on the pitch after an awkward clear out.

The Italian journalist to my left in the press tribune is living every moment of this.

I can only guess he doesn't need to file anything at full-time, because he's just spent the opening 15 minutes shouting, clapping really loudly and throwing his hands to his head when something doesn't go Italy's way.

England's Luke Pearce is the man in the middle today, by the way.

We've had a couple of goes at getting this scrum moving, and when it does there's more brilliance by Menoncello.

He spots another gap, beats two men and Josh van der Flier has to haul him down in the 22.

The Italians then lost it and strayed offside, but they are causing all sorts of issues here.

Lovely, lovely kick from Paolo Garbisi and ability to see the space and Monty Ioane did well to gather for the first try.

The worrying thing for Ireland is how easy that looked. Too much space left out wide and it made life easy for Italy.

Sluggish start for Ireland but Italy look really up for this.

James Lowe looks to get Ireland going down the left but his kick is too long and Italy can touch down behind their own line.

It's cleared back to Ireland, but it's knocked forward and that sums up Ireland's opening 15 minutes.

Italy at their best are an absolute joy to watch. Ireland haven't landed a punch so far.

Ireland have looked oddly ponderous so far.

    That'll definitely waken them up.

Ireland whitewashed the Italians in Dublin last year but they're going to have to come from behind here.

Converted Try - Italy 7-0 Irelandpublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Monty Ioane (con Allan)

    It's stunning from Italy!

Tommaso Menoncello breaks a tackle and his offload finds Paolo Garbisi.

The fly-half charges into space and, seeing he's being closed down, pokes the ball into the corner.

Monty Ioane is there to race onto the ball and touch down.

Brilliant rugby, and Tommaso Allan lands an excellent conversion too.

    Italy 0-0 Ireland

Ireland win the line-out and the maul brings them up to just outside the 22.

It's almost a howler from Jamison Gibson-Park as he throws it straight into the hands of Fischetti, who hacks it downfield.

Robbie Henshaw wins the foot race with Ange Capuozzo to touch down behind his own sticks, but that was a let off.

    Italy 0-0 Ireland

Italy win their throw and have it again in the middle of the pitch.

There's some risky passing going on before it's kicked through by Ange Capuozzo.

James Lowe gathers and is hit by Danilo Fischetti, who was offside and now Ireland have the penalty.

  17. Postpublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Italy 0-0 Ireland

Italy look to build up a head of steam and take a free-kick quickly.

They make some good ground but hand possession to Ireland, and it's stabbed forward by Garry Ringrose.

Ange Capuozzo gathers the ball, but Jack Conan then gives away the penalty for an infringement at the ruck.

Paolo Garbisi sends it back into the Irish half.

  18. Postpublished at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

Italy kick it long after winning their throw, and it ends with Dan Sheehan isolated on the wing.

He sits down Tomasso Allan and does well to let the rest of his forwards come to his aid.

It's then knocked forward by James Ryan, and Italy respond with one of their own.

The end result is a scrum for the hosts, just outside the Irish 22.

Great game this, if you're a fan of line outs.

Ireland win their throw and spread it wide, but James Lowe is bundled into touch on the far side by Ange Capuozzo.

Italy are a quality side, they play attacking rugby and they have some really dynamic backs.

They are not to be underestimated and Ireland could have their work cut out this afternoon.

There's pressure on both teams today to get a result. Ireland because they need to bounce back from last weekend and Italy because they are trying to finish ahead of Wales and avoid the wooden spoon.
