Emirates Team New Zealand defeated Sweden's Artemis Racing 5-2 to set up an America's Cup rematch with holders Oracle Team USA in Bermuda.

Monday's first race was abandoned as the wind dropped and the time limit elapsed, causing a two-hour delay.

When racing resumed, New Zealand, who led 4-2, comfortably won by 56 seconds to win the best-of-nine America's Cup challenger play-off final.

New Zealand suffered an agonising 9-8 defeat to the USA in 2013.

They led 8-1 at one point but were eventually overhauled by an Oracle team that featured Britain's Sir Ben Ainslie as tactician in what is regarded as one of sport's great comebacks.

This year, Sweden's team included Britain's Iain Percy, who won two golds and a silver across three Olympics from 2000 to 2012.

But he was powerless to prevent New Zealand from claiming the point they needed.

As the wind held for Monday's second race, New Zealand helmsman Peter Burling got the better of Sweden's skipper Nathan Outteridge at the start, and his team sailed superbly to take the win.

"The boat is going seriously fast, we feel we are in great shape to take on Oracle now," Burling told BT Sport.

The first to seven points wins the America's Cup, or the Auld Mug as the trophy is known, with a possible 13 races to be sailed on 17-18 and 24-27 June.

The America's Cup, the oldest competition in international sport, was first raced in 1851 around the Isle of Wight and has been won by only four nations.
