Peter Wilson unsure on competing at Rio 2016 Olympics

Great Britain's Olympic gold medallist Peter Wilson says he is still undecided on whether he will compete at the 2016 Games in Rio.

Wilson won gold in the double trap event at the London 2012 Games, but had to overcome several obstacles, including a lack of funding.

"I've not committed to Rio; it would be silly to," Wilson told BBC South Today.

His gold meant the sport hit its target and has consequently been handed an increase in funding from £2.5m to £3m.

But Dorset-based Wilson says there are a lot of decisions to make, especially as his nearest training facility could be five hours away because of a dispute between Southern Counties Shooting and their neighbours which the Environment Agency is investigating.

"There are still a lot of things bubbling in the background," he said.

"I want to be 100% committed. When I go for it, I go for it. And what I mean for that is I go for gold, and at the moment I am still a little unsure."

Wilson, 26, added: "[Coach] Ahmed [Al Maktoum] is very keen, I'm keen but you need to be certain in your heart.

"You have to want it so badly, you have to want to put yourself through pain, anguish and agony and until I am certain of that I'll be playing my cards very close to my chest."
