Michael Holt puts win down to improved attitude

Holt's highest world ranking was 21st back in 2006-07

Nottingham snooker star Michael Holt admits he had a "terrible attitude" before winning the Players Tour Championship event this week.

The world number 38 secured a second PTC title by beating Dominic Dale 4-2 at Sheffield's World Snooker Academy.

"I'm never far away from being very good or very bad," said Holt. "My attitude has been terrible recently but it was a lot better here."

The 33-year-old has never been past the quarter-finals of a full ranking event.

However he impressed in beating Mark Selby and John Higgins on his way to the final in event 10 of this year's PTC.

"Maybe the shorter matches suit me because there's not enough time to lose my head," Holt added.

"I'm good enough to do well in any event but my attitude has stunk at times. I haven't achieved what I should have done. I've been in the top 32 but that's not what I turned pro for.

"I've said it before, but if I can keep a consistent temperament then I've still got time to achieve a lot in the game.

"This win is for my dad, as well as my manager Dave Bramley, who has stuck by me."
