Five-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan needs one more frame to beat Matthew Stevens and move into the quarter-finals of the 2015 event.
O'Sullivan holds a 12-4 lead in the best-of-25-frame second-round match, which resumes at 19:00 BST on Monday.
Australia's Neil Robertson leads Ali Carter 11-5 while Judd Trump has a 10-6 advantage over Marco Fu of Hong Kong.
Shaun Murphy, champion in 2005, won six frames in a row on his way to a 12-4 lead over Joe Perry.
O'Sullivan started his second session with a 5-3 lead over two-time Crucible runner-up Stevens and took the opening two frames to move 7-3 in front.
A break of 55 saw the Welshman pull one back but O'Sullivan made breaks of 110, 139 and 61 in a run that saw him win five successive frames.
Robertson, the 2010 champion, was also in dominant form as scores of 72, 119 and 71 helped him move 11-3 ahead against Carter.
But Carter, who in December got the all-clear after being diagnosed with a cancerous tumour on his lung last May, won the last two frames of the session.
