Mark Allen loses 6-5 to Kyren Wilson in World Open semi-final

Mark Allen narrowly missed out on a place in the Yushan World Open final as he was edged out 6-5 by Kyren Wilson in Saturday's semi-final in China.

Allen, 31, trailed 52-0 in the deciding frame, but replied with a break of 42, before missing a crucial blue.

Wilson had led 5-4 and looked set to win frame 10 when he failed to pot a straightforward red, letting in Allen to clear up with a 94 break for 5-5.

The Englishman will play Ding Junhui or Luca Brecel in Sunday's 19-frame final.

Wilson has already ensured himself of the £43,000 runner-up prize by defeating the Northern Irishman.

Allen, world ranked 11, had sealed a place in the semi-finals of the tournament by beating David Gilbert 5-1 on Friday.

The 31-year-old saw off former world champion Neil Robertson 5-4 in the last 16, having also defeated Oliver Lines and Allan Taylor.

Ding Junhui beat Li Hang 5-3 in their last-eight match, while Luca Brecel defeated Anthony McGill 5-4.
