World number 15 Kyren Wilson says his form so far this season gives him every reason to believe he can win his first Triple Crown event.

The 25-year-old Englishman scored two centuries as he cruised into the second round of the UK Championship with a 6-1 win over Sean O'Sullivan.

Wilson reached the final of the World Open in September and English Open in October, but was runner-up in both.

"I feel like a trophy is missing. I'm knocking on the door," he said.

Wilson, the 2015 Shanghai Masters champion, was beaten by Ding Junhui at the World Open in Yushan, China and Ronnie O'Sullivan at the English Open in Barnsley.

He has never gone beyond the quarter-finals of one of snooker's 'Big Three' events, twice reaching the last eight at the World Championship and making the UK Championship third round in 2015.

His only appearance at the Masters in 2017 saw him go out in the first round to Ding.

Wilson, who faces China's Yu Delu in round two of the UK Championship, added: "I'm playing really well and have had two finals.

"I have been a lot more consistent than last year and I am coming into the tournament with a lot of form."

Wilson said he was just pleased to make it through the opening stage of the competition in York with his victory over world number 120 O'Sullivan.

"It's nice to the get the first round out of the way," Wilson said. "The BBC TV stages start now and you are in the tournament properly.

"It's completely different buzz around the place. There have been good crowds in the first round but it is not quite the same atmosphere.

"When you have the TV cameras and the commentators in, there is even more of a buzz and you feel it."
