Murphy beats Wilson in thrilling Masters final - best shots
- Published
The Masters - the second of the snooker season's Triple Crown events - was won by Shaun Murphy, who defeated Kyren Wilson 10-7 in the final at Alexandra Palace.
It was the 42-year-old's second Masters title, which came 10 years after his first.
His victory in the final came one day after he made only the sixth maximum 147 break in the history of the competition on his way to defeating Mark Allen 6-3 in the semi-finals.
He is only the fifth player to record a 147 break at the Masters since the event was first staged in 1975, with Ding Junhui the lone player to have made two maximums in the tournament.
Murphy took home the Paul Hunter Trophy alongside the first prize of £350,000, with runner-up Wilson collecting £140,000.
Reigning world champion Wilson, 33, ended as Masters runner-up for a second time, having lost to Allen in the 2018 final.

The Masters, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025, is an invitational tournament for the 16 highest-ranked players at the end of the UK Championship.
All matches were the best of 11 frames, except for the final which has a longer format - a best-of-19 contest split over two sessions.
Alexandra Palace in north London had a seating capacity of 2,217 for the duration of the tournament.
Ronnie O'Sullivan was scheduled to defend the title he won in 2024, but withdrew on the eve of the tournament on medical grounds.
