Judd Trump won his first Shanghai Masters title by beating fellow Englishman Shaun Murphy 11-5 in the final.

The world number two, who thrashed seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan in the semi-final, was in scintillating form, scoring three centuries as he took the £210,000 prize.

Trump, who led 7-3 after the morning session, put himself within a frame of the title with a break of 110 - his 10th century of the tournament.

Murphy responded with two centuries to close the gap to 10-5 before Trump sealed his first title of the 2024-25 season.

"This is one of the top five events of the season, so to win this is an amazing start to the season," said the 2019 world champion.

"I would like to replicate what I did last season and win close to maybe five or more events this season. I couldn't have dreamed of a better start."
