Zhang Anda could arguably have been 3-1 up himself at the mid-session interval and misses frame ball in the fifth frame.

He gets a decent run of the balls though, not for the first time in this frame, and snookers Kyren Wilson up near the yellow pocket.

The world champion can't get out of that and Zhang gets himself right back into the contest.

Zhang Anda has the first opportunity but misses a red into the green pocket on a run of 32.

Kyren Wilson leaves a safety shot woefully short and his opponent establishes a 64-0 lead but then snookers himself on the black with frame ball in sight.

Wilson jokingly asks for a re-rack and pushes a red over the left corner but his opponent is snookered and in turn presents Wilson with a chance to clear up and the Englishman obliges with the most difficult ball, the green, wiping its feet, and then dropping into the top right corner as he knocks in a 69.

A rather strange safety shot from Zhang Anda that leaves Kyren Wilson a long red to the top left corner is punished as the Englishman enjoys a run of 45.

Wilson then runs out of position trying to be a little too precise and can't make the most of his next opportunity at the table but does eventually get over the line.

Great response from Zhang Anda, who made a 147 break at the UK Championship earlier this term.

Zhang levels with a break of 85 and wins the second frame at one visit.

Oh and if he can manage another maximum in this tournament he would earn a bumper £147,000 bonus.

Any player who makes two 147s across the Triple Crown events and the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters will secure that prize.

That's a great frame for Kyren Wilson. He is given an opportunity on the green, it's a great brown and those are the sort of pots that give you confidence and make you feel like a winning machine.

I enjoyed the way Zhang Anda started the first frame, he was potting everything. He will be really disappointed by the way he ended it.

He did the difficult stuff but he did not do the easy stuff well. It was a poor frame from him in the end.

Zhang Anda knocks in some great balls to reach 44 and then breaks down after not being able to develop a bunch of reds above the black spot.

He gets back to the table though with a brilliant long red to the top left corner played at dead weight but then misses a tricky black.

That allows Kyren Wilson the chance to get some points on the board and he reaches 46 before a cross double goes awry, with the final red left hovering over the left middle.

Zhang though fails to get the job done on his next visit and ends up losing the frame after his opponent clears up from the green.

The world champion Kyren Wilson is yet to win the Masters, with his only run to the final, back in 2018, ending in a 10-7 defeat to Mark Allen.

China's Zhang Anda made his Masters debut a year ago and went out in the first round to Shaun Murphy.

However, he will expect to give his English opponent a stern test this afternoon.
