Page is sticking in there. He's not giving up heart which is a good quality to have.

    O'Sullivan 7-1 Page

Story of the match so far - Jackson Page not taking the chances he's had. Other than that magical 142 obviously.

He leaves the yellow too close to a pocket and Ronnie O'Sullivan cuts it in before clearing up to eventually seal that penultimate frame of this session.

  4. O'Sullivan error gives Page hopepublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 24 April

    O'Sullivan 6-1 Page

Wow, what an error from Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Snookered on the final red, he tries to come off two cushions but catches it wrong, brushes the jaw of the pocket and hits the black on the way back.

Seven foul points - Page can force a re-spot with a clearance... but he misses a tough yellow with the rest after a bit of a sloppy positional shot.

Everyone loves a good debate and rightly have favourites... but the GOAT is surely very simple. Most titles, most centuries and most classic event wins. Ronnie is even called the greatest by all of the others on your list.

There is no debate. Ronnie is the greatest.

Jackson Page, meanwhile, isn't going away.

He's got one of the two snookers he needed... oh but then Page fouls as well after O'Sullivan puts him in a pickle. Back to square one.

    Allen 9-5 Williams

A break of 53 helps earn Robbie Williams a stay of execution against Mark Allen, who remains one frame from victory.

If the question was best player then undoubtedly O’Sullivan. However, greatest encompasses so much more including being an ambassador for your chosen sport, unwavering sportsmanship and class as well as ability. That’s why Steve Davis would be the greatest of all time for me.

  9. Snookers required for Pagepublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 24 April

    O'Sullivan 6-1 Page

Ronnie O'Sullivan annoyed with himself after jawing a pink to middle but the 66 break he had made prior to that point means Jackson Page needs two snookers.

But he's giving it a go.

The GOAT of snooker, I think, is the player with the best all-round game and whose influence on the game was most transformative. Steve Davis had an incredible all round game and temperament to match…and was hugely influential in the game’s popularity abroad. Don’t ignore his impact on Spitting Image either!

Well, the Welshman is first in again in frame seven - but he under-cuts a black to the corner.

Ronnie O'Sullivan pots a nice red with the rest - normal service about to be resumed?

Jackson is a fantastic talent - but he's got to forget that frame, he's got to win the next two!

He doesn't hang about, Jackson Page!

I feel a bit aggrieved we've not seen more of him this afternoon - that was wonderful stuff. Absolutely wonderful, every credit.

He's very watchable and we can see why Ronnie has treated him with the utmost respect.

That 142 equals the high break at the venue so far this year, made by both Ricky Walden and Mark Williams.

There was a 147 in qualifying, by Thailand's Noppon Saengkham.

Huge round of applause from the Sheffield crowd for a simply wonderful 142 clearance from Jackson Page.

That was simply majestic, considering the scoreline.

Ray Reardon, Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry all dominated their era which is something O'Sullivan hasn't done. But he's also won seven World titles, eight UK Championships and eight Masters over a period of 32 years where the standard of snooker has never been so high. O'Sullivan is undoubtedly the greatest snooker player of all time.

He's got the chance to do just that, Ken, after a cracking long red.

Opportunity for Page to show what he's got - and he's doing just that, racing to a 50 break in Ronnie-esque fashion.

Ronnie has given Jackson Page the utmost respect even though he is dominating this session.

The embarrassment can creep in so hopefully Jackson will get a first frame on the board very quickly.

  20. O'Sullivan goes six aheadpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 24 April

    O'Sullivan 6-0 Page

A poor shot from O'Sullivan gave Jackson Page another chance - but, in what is the story of the match, so far, he was unable to grasp it, missing a red along the cushion.

The 'Rocket', by contrast, does punish the error and it's 6-0. Page will just want to win a frame and avoid a shut-out the way it's going.
