Judd Trump played down suggestions he was the favourite to win the UK Championship in his post-match news conference after beating John Higgins in a decider.

However, the performance he delivered against Zhang Anda is very much evidence to the contrary.

  2. Trump advances to the semi-finalspublished at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 6-2 Zhang

Judd Trump reaches his seventh semi-final of the campaign with an exhilarating display of attacking snooker.

The world number one rounds off his victory in style with his fourth century of the match.

  3. Zhang claws back a second framepublished at 15:28 Greenwich Mean Time

Trump 5-2 Zhang, Murphy 2-3 Hawkins

Another frame goes Zhang Anda's way with an impressive century.

Judd Trump will want to get this done sharpish and not give his opponent any more encouragement.

  4. Zhang wins his first framepublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 5-1 Zhang

Zhang Anda has a frame on the board.

He was 5-1 down yesterday against Stuart Bingham and came back to win a decider. Given the way Judd Trump has been playing so far you'd have thought that scenario would be extremely unlikely to repeat itself.

  5. Trump misses out on recordpublished at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 5-0 Zhang

Judd Trump gets to 527 points without reply before missing a red on a break of 61.

Zhang Anda is up sharpish and knocks a tricky red into the bottom left corner and celebrates like he has just made a 147.

However, another frame still goes Trump's way.

  6. Murphy draws levelpublished at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time

    Murphy 2-2 Hawkins

Shaun Murphy could barely get his hand on the table in the opening two frames but levels matters with a break of 92.

  7. Rampant Trumppublished at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 4-0 Zhang

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at York Barbican

Judd Trump wins a fourth consecutive frame with a third successive century.

Absolutely relentless from Trump, who began that break of 131 with an outrageous three-ball plant.

That is one of the best sessions of dominant attacking snooker I can remember.

Ronnie O'Sullivan currently holds the record for the most number of points without reply (556) v Ricky Walden at the Masters in 2014.

    Trump is currently on 466.

  8. Murphy gets frame on the boardpublished at 13:59 Greenwich Mean Time

    Murphy 1-2 Hawkins

A much-needed frame on the board for Shaun Murphy, with a wonderful break of 108, having been virtually frozen out of the first two frames.

  9. Postpublished at 13:52 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 3-0 Zhang

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

Judd played John Higgins yesterday and the highest break in the first four frames was 38. He is a different player today. He is relaxed and enjoying himself and it is proving impossible for Zhang Anda to get in.

  10. Postpublished at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time

Trump 3-0 Zhang, Murphy 0-2 Hawkins

Judd Trump takes another frame in rapid fashion.

Zhang Anda has attempted two pots in this match so far and conceded 335 points without scoring one.

  11. Postpublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 2-0 Zhang

Zhang Anda has not potted a ball yet with Trump scoring 216 points without reply.

But even if he can't turn the tide and make the semi-finals, at present he is looking good to pick up a prize of £15,000 for the highest break thanks to his magical maximum earlier this week.

  12. Trump going through the gearspublished at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 2-0 Zhang

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at York Barbican

Judd Trump looks in great touch and is racing through the gears as he records his 39th century of the season to chalk off another frame.

The world number one looks like he will take some stopping this afternoon.

  13. Hawkins takes the initiativepublished at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time

    Murphy 0-1 Hawkins

A confident start and a run of 63 from Barry Hawkins on table two gives the world number 20 an early advantage.

Shaun Murphy was far from at his best during his victory over Ding Junhui and will need to find his best form this afternoon if he is to prevent Hawkins from reaching only his second UK semi-final.

  14. Trump makes fast startpublished at 13:26 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 1-0 Zhang

An aggressive, attacking start from Judd Trump allows him to secure the first frame with a break of 89 in under 10 minutes.

  15. Postpublished at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time

    Murphy v Hawkins

The last time Shaun Murphy and Barry Hawkins met over a match of this distance it was a couple of years back at the Masters, with Hawkins winning 6-2.

However, overall Murphy has generally held sway.

  16. 'It is a new Judd Trump'published at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump v Zhang

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

I think Judd Trump has the edge today against Zhang Anda.

He has started both matches very slowly and he can't afford to do that today. Coming through the match against John Higgins will give him a great lift.

He is refusing frame balls he thinks he can't get. It is a new Judd Trump that doesn't go for everything but makes sure he gets a win any way he can.

Zhang will not be afraid of Judd but this is the time when you expect the world number one to show why he is the favourite to win this.

  17. Postpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time
