Final: Williams 10-17 Zhao
Zhao Xintong gets in first in frame 28 but his break ends on six when a cut-back red stays up.
Over to you again, Mark Williams.

He's been frozen out of a lot of it and he hasn't performed but the pressure is off for Mark Williams.

It's small steps [on the way to a comeback] and that's another small step.

Absolutely incredible. They're made of strong stuff, the Class of 92.
Mark Williams is making Zhao Xintong wait for the one frame he needs to be world champion.

Dark Matter: Well Hendry won 10 on the trot to beat White in 1992! So it's not impossible, highly unlikely but possible.
Final: Williams 9-17 Zhao
Mark Williams didn't get the job done in one visit, but he may get it done in two.
He has a 54-point lead with five reds left, but four of them are along the top cushion.
Final: Williams 8-17 Zhao
Yes. This is the first time.
There have only been three left-handed world champions - Mark Williams, Neil Robertson and Judd Trump.
We're surely about to add a fourth name to that list.
Final: Williams 9-17 Zhao
Mark Williams is so unlucky at the start of the next frame.
He plays a wonderful split of the reds off two cushions with loads of right-hand side and doesn't land on an easy next red.
It's a weird and wonderful position that he gets himself into, bridging over a number of other reds, to pot the next ball and keep the break going.

Ese Agboaye: Is it too little, too late for Mark Williams, or can he somehow claw his way from the depths of despair?
Final: Williams 9-17 Zhao
John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two
I still think it's remarkable that Mark is playing as well as he is at his age.
He's doing all he can do, we said at the start to just play every frame as if it's the final frame and see where it takes you. There's a great start with the century.
It's obviously a massive long shot but if he keeps scoring in one visit, it might make a difference.
Final: Williams 9-17 Zhao
Well played Mark Williams!
A break of 101 and he starts the final session in the best way possible - with a century break.
A huge roar from the crowd as the last black drops.
One down, nine to go for the most magnificent comeback in sporting history.
Final: Williams 8-17 Zhao
Mark Williams hasn't made a century break in this match - he deserves at least one in the final, to give the Crucible crowd a real chance to celebrate his achievements at this tournament.
With the frame safe, he'll hope to clear the colours to get to three figures.
Final: Williams 8-17 Zhao
Mark Williams is at the table trying to erode Zhao Xintong's 30-point lead and extend this match a little bit further.
Having taken the lead in frame 26, all of the reds he needs to clinch it are in the open.

Hi. Loving the snooker coverage as always. Do we need to stop saying the "first Chinese world champion" though, given that the current women's world champion, Bai Yulu, is Chinese?
Anon
Bai won the women's world title last year and will defend that crown in her native China later this month.

Lei Yang (right) and his friends are very much looking forward to this evening's concluding session.
"I have been here every year since Covid and we have been waiting for a Chinese player to get close to become the world champion for such a long time," he says.

And Zhao Xintong is in almost immediately at the start of the first frame of the concluding session.
The reds are in a bunch with 23 points the lead - this could be the key shot to split them off the black...
It looks like he's on one, but the potting attempt drifts wide.

I think we should celebrate the fact he has played some breathtaking snooker.
Obviously the blip is a stain on the CV. Hopefully lessons have been learned by all players, not just him.
I think most people will agree everyone deserves a second chance and, boy, hasn't he taken it.
