Speedway: Swindon Robins boss Alun Rossiter rates Hans Anderson

Swindon Robins boss Alun Rossiter has praised captain Hans Anderson for his performance in their opening Elite League victory over Lakeside.

Both skipper Andersen, 32, and new signing Edward Kennett were unbeaten by an opposing rider, and helped the Robins to a 63-27 win.

"I'm going to single out my captain," Rossiter told BBC Wiltshire.

"There's something about him this year. He's so much sharper than I've seen him in a long time."

Swindon signed up the Grand Prix star as their number one rider for the 2012 season, and they went on to lift the Elite League title last campaign.

Andersen has returned to Blunsdon on loan from Peterborough for the 2013 campaign and Rossiter said: "He looks like the old Hans Andersen from a few years back.

"He certainly looks like he's up for it and hopefully he'll get some more points on the board."

And commenting on his side's thrashing of Lakeside, Rossiter added: "I thought it was going to be tough but whilst Lakeside were poor, we were fantastic.

"The boys were outstanding and I can't praise them enough. They're not an easy side [to beat] so we've got to give every one of our riders a pat on the back."

Swindon will now travel to the Hammers on Friday night, before welcoming Peterborough to the Abbey Stadium on Monday.
