Olympic gold medallist swimmer Ruta Meilutyte has claimed her second European record in four days at the Mare Nostrum in Barcelona.

Plymouth-based Meilutyte swam a time of 29.96 seconds, setting a new 50 metre breaststroke European record.

The world record time of 29.80 seconds for the 50 metre breaststroke is held by USA's Jessica Hardy set in 2009.

Last weekend, Meilutyte set a 100 metre breaststroke personal best of one minute, 05.20 seconds.
